Product Use

Operational Considerations

Apply dispersants concentrated (neat) or diluted. Operating manual has data and tables for application rates based on boat speed and desired quantity per area. The unit should be positioned within 5 m. of the AFEDO nozzles and for easy access to the dispersant storage tank. Universal clamps are included for mounting on vessel. Extension hoses may be required on larger vessles. Pump has a maximum suction lift of 3 m. for sea water dilution. Hand lances are available for spot treatment.

System should be mounted on a vessel as far forward as possible. A 4-ft. by 4-ft. area is required for the pump and frame. In addition to considering the distance to the spill site from a dispersant re-supply site, the location and availability of deck space for the stowage of an onboard dispersant supply (330 gal. tote or 55-gal. drum) can significantly affect the overall vessel dispersant operation. The dispersant containers must be securely fastened to vessel to avoid CG shift and capsize potential.
